  • This is not a follow-the-map experience. Designed for capable hikers ready for challenge, this co-taught series explores demanding routes, overlooked offshoots, and recon-style hikes that are still being figured out. We move beyond the familiar to investigate terrain that invites curiosity, resilience, and strong trail instincts.

Outing duration is flexible and may vary based on terrain, conditions, and navigation decisions. Participants develop confidence navigating routes that are not yet mastered while building endurance, decision-making awareness, and group trail strategy. No dogs.

    Participant Preparedness
Participants must carry the Ten Essentials and be prepared for changing weather and variable trail conditions. Required readiness includes appropriate footwear, layered clothing, sufficient water and nutrition, and personal responsibility for comfort and safety in backcountry-style environments.

    Learning Outcomes
    Participants will be able to:

    • Assess trail conditions and terrain difficulty to inform route decisions

    • Apply foundational route-finding strategies in minimally marked areas

    • Demonstrate pacing, endurance management, and energy conservation over longer distances

    • Practice risk awareness and group communication in backcountry-style settings

    • Evaluate personal readiness for moderate to hard trail challenges

    No dogs.
